The settings screen is where you set all the options for
KVITLECH. This screen is automatically shown at the beginning of each new game. It can
also be accessed from the main screen by clicking on
Settings under the Options menu item.
The following lists all the
options on the screen.
- Number of players: (from 1 to 5) If only one player is
selected the computer will play as the second player.
- Players names:
- Sets of cards: (from 2 to 10) This option sets the size
of the deck of cards KVITLECH uses. Each set represents 12 cards (with face values of 1
through 12). The more sets you use in a deck the harder it becomes to figure out what the
next card is likely to be (a.k.a. card counting). Suppose you are the third player in a
round and three 12s have already been dealt from the deck. If there were only 3 sets in
the deck, you know that there are no more 12s left. On the other hand if you are playing
with 8 sets in a deck, you know that you still have a fair chance of getting one.
- Deposit Amount: Amount of money each player contributes
when the bank is refilled.
- Sounds:
- Show Banks first card: This option lets you decide
if the banks first card is visible while the players are placing their bets. One of
the reasons not to show the banks card is that if the bank draws a good card (like a
12) than a given player may decide not to bet against it. Hiding the banks first
card therefore, adds more suspense to the game.
- Forcing the Bank top play first: See Forcing
the bank.
KVITLECH will also save your settings and remember them the next time you start
the game.
